Tips for Managing Your Vaginal Health in the Winter

As this year approaches the final chapter, the weather changes have taken full effect. With this, some serious changes can start to affect your body too.  When it comes to this winter wonderland, vaginal dryness can be a huge issue for many women. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be. There are certain actions you can take to stay comfortable below the belt.

Watch What You Wear

One surefire way to help protect yourself during the winter is to watch what you wear. Tight, synthetic fabrics may be warm, comfortable and stylish, but when it comes to vaginal dryness, they are the enemy. When you wear tights, you’re essentially creating a warm environment—the kind of environment that yeast infections thrive in.

This can easily be remedied by wearing looser or more breathable clothing. Watch out for things like tights, pantyhose or any type of multi-synthetic underwear. The best thing you can possibly do for your vagina is to get yourself some pure, 100 percent cotton underwear.

You Are What You Eat

What you eat can have a huge impact on your vaginal health. Anywhere you can, try to fit probiotics into your diet. Things like yogurt and other vaginal dryness supplements are excellent ways to keep your nether region in tip-top shape. Research has shown that certain foods, such as garlic and refined carbohydrates, can lead to trouble for you and your vagina.

Stay Away From Home Remedies

Last but not least, whatever you do be sure to stay away from home remedies. When it comes to vaginal health, everyone seems to have their own opinion on what is right. Every vagina is different and you are the only person that knows how to best treat your own.

Just because the air outside is drying out doesn’t mean you need to develop dryness down there. Your vagina is its own little ecosystem, and with a little TLC, you won’t have any problems with it this winter.
